The small but important threaded inserts in furniture

There are more parts to simple chairs and tables than people realize. In order for the item to be able to take weight, it often has many parts inside the joints to keep them in place and sturdy. At the bottom of the item of furniture, there are also some elements designed to hold weight and make it less damaging on the floor over time. One of these parts is threaded inserts, which are used to hold casters and glides in place.

Getting the right size threaded inserts

Threaded inserts are perhaps the most important thing on an item of furniture as it holds the glide or the wheel on the bottom of the leg and stops the whole thing from collapsing. As it is such an integral part, people replacing them need to be careful about the size and style that they buy. It is easy to get it wrong and end up fitting something that will not adequately hold the glide in place.
